While filming Beverly Hills Cop in 1984,
I severely sprained my lower back lifting 200lb. John Ashton over that high wall (near the end of the movie). As a result, I have suffered (sometimes chronic) lower back pain off and on for decades, especially after intense exercise. Furthermore, I have always been self-conscious of my habitual slouching (even as a teenager...think Beavis and Butthead). Over the years B.J. (Before Jeff - March 2002) my posture and my lower back pain had been slowly worsening.
As a direct result of Jeff's 'emphatic-emphasis' on correcting my posture, strengthening my stomach and back, and especially stretching my hip flexors (the cause of most of my back pain), I am now completely pain free...but now have good (?) muscle pain instead.
I have even gained 1.5 inches in height because I can now stand perfectly upright to 6'3" without effort.
Jeff thoroughly instructs inside and outside. More than just supervising, when I lift weights he helps (forces?) me to focus on the movement from within. My posture has been permanently corrected and my conditioning level is at an all time high.
I truly enjoy (most of the time) the wide range of activities in Jeff's regime (if it weren't for those 'wonderful' sport balls I might even consider him a friend). He has revealed beautiful hiking and running trails to me that I never even knew existed....right in my own back yard. Even though I am not fond of hill sprints, I have increased my aerobic capacity and can now run a challenging 10 mile mountain trail - at a pace I didn't think possible.
When I started training with Jeff
in the fall of 2002, I had limited mobility in my entire body with occasional shoulder and lower back pain. After years of aggressive athletics, my continuous aches and pains from golf, running, and especially basketball, were becoming very frustrating.
Having played intramural basketball (with the 30 year old kids) most of my adult life, I was thoroughly frustrated with the idea of 'giving it up'. After only a few weeks of training, my shoulder and my back were almost pain free. After a few months I had forgotten about them.
I have definitely experienced a very positive change over the years. After countless squats and lunges, my lower body strength is now carrying me up and down the court rather fast. I can now do several pull ups and an average of 10 dips per set. (I didn't know what a dip was before I met Jeff). I even stretch on a regular basis now...though I still don't care for it.
Jeff's focus on form and internal balancing of the body has lead me to a new level of stamina and durability. I may even take another yoga class some day... the first one was pretty tough on my ego.

He's teaching me how to breathe again. I am even considering going on a hike and that's saying something.
I know I start to lose weight and get stronger when I work out with him...
and, I even enjoy his company.
